Delta Phenomics is a privately held company providing contract research, consultancy and training services for pharmaceutical and nutrition companies, governmental agencies and academic institutions. Our expertise in rat and mouse behavior, neuroscience and pharmacology is combined with a unique automated behavioral testing and data analysis platform. This allows us to screen mutant lines and compound libraries at high throughput and deliver extensive behavioral profiles in a cost-effective manner. The company was founded by Prof. Dr. Berry Spruijt and Dr. Lucas Noldus, and commenced operations in January 2008. The founders have a long track record in methodological and technical innovation, and have collaborated since the early nineties on the development of novel scientific software and instrumentation for the automated observation of animal behavior, and its application in behavioral neuroscience. Their teams have gained a vast amount of experience in laboratory automation, computer vision, data acquisition and analysis, both as developers, testers and users. In the early 90s they co-developed EthoVision, the first software-based video tracking system for automation of behavioral tests. The development of the PhenoMAP platform started in 2003. It forms the technical basis of the project “Neuro-Bsik Mouse Phenomics” in which Noldus and Spruijt collaborate with 10 other neuroscience groups in the Netherlands on high-throughput phenotyping of mouse mutants. The start of Delta Phenomics in 2008 is a direct spin-off of this concerted action. |
