University of Aberdeen

Delta Phenomics has a long collaboration with Prof. dr. Gernot Riedel of the University of Aberdeen, who was closely involved in the development and validation of a transgenic Disc-1 mouse model for schizophrenia.

Disrupted-in-Schizophrenia-1 gene (DISC1) is associated with a range of neuropsychiatric disorders including schizophrenia. The mouse model of the University of Aberdeen models the mutation that is found in a large Scottish pedigree. The Disc-1 transgenic mice display several brain impairments (such as enlarged lateral ventricles and reduced cerebral cortex) and exhibit behavior (such as increased immobility) which is consistent with findings in severe schizophrenia (Shen et al. 2008).

Delta Phenomics can obtain this transgenic mouse model, via its collaboration with the University of Aberdeen, to test for example your developed therapeutic agent. Contact us today if you are interested in an experimental study using the Disc-1 transgenic mice.
