The PhenoMAP™ platform does not provide all types of behavioral tests. Strong aversive stimulation is not to be used in a home cage as it interferes with all other tests in that context. Conversely, strongly rewarding stimuli may dominate other behaviors. It is also not possible to build in certain specific tasks, such as a Morris maze. Therefore, we can combine home cage testing with other paradigms. For instance, our animal model for “depression” consists of a social stress paradigm followed by longitudinal observation in the home cage, which allows monitoring the development of anhedonia and other behavioral changes.
